Tuesday, June 3rd- Awards Ceremonies 5:00-5:45 pm (7th Grade Ceremony) 6:00-6:45pm (8th Grade Ceremony)
Who: All invited 7th/8th graders & parents/guardians
What: Special assembly honoring students with notable grade point
averages, departmental specialties, citizenship, & athletic
achievement. Parents will be notified if their child is receiving
an award via mail and notice sent home w/student.
Where: Cal Middle Gymnasium
What to Wear: We highly recommend students wear a nice outfit as
they will be seated in front of the audience throughout the
ceremony and families will want to take photos of this special
moment.
NOTE: Street parking will not be enforced during the awards
ceremony-you may park on street and in staff lots. Please be
mindful not to block neighbors’ driveways.
Monday, June 9th – 8th Grade Sunsplash Field Trip Buses return to Cal Middle at 4:00pm (depending on traffic)
Please arrange transportation for your child and be on time for
pick up at 4:00pm @ Cal Middle. Who: All eligible 8th graders.
Ineligible students may not attend “on their own” without admin
approval.
What: Special field trip just for 8th graders who bought the
Spirit Pack or paid $55 for a ticket. Where: Golfland Sunsplash,
1893 Taylor Rd, Roseville, CA 95661
What to Bring: Students are encouraged to wear modest swimwear/
rash guard, sunscreen, sunglasses/hat, towel. They should bring a
small bag/purse with money for extra snacks (lunch is provided)
or arcade games. (Small locker $8, medium locker $12). No
backpacks or bulky items. Any medications need to be in a ziplock
bag with label and dosage and given to Mrs. Arnoult or Ms. Wong.
Students may bring phones but they will be collected/stored on
the bus. Feel free to contact (916) 395-5302 in case of any
emergencies or if you are unable to communicate with your child.
Cal Middle Staff will relay your message to a chaperone at the
park.
Behavior Note: Students must follow park rules and maintain
behavior that best represents their school. Any profanity,
rule-breaking, or inappropriate behavior may result in expulsion
from the park and a chaperone will sit with them until the end of
the day or parent comes to pick them up.
Tuesday, June 10th -Yearbook Distribution Regular Schedule
Students who purchased yearbooks will receive one during 4th period. Promotion photo, certificate, and promotion lei (Spirit pack only) during 6th period. Parents: If you did not purchase a Spirit Pack but wish to purchase a Yearbook ($30) and/or a Promotion Lei ($15 while supplies last) please pay at the Front Office.
Tuesday Evening 8th Grade Dance (Semi-Formal) 6:00-8:00pm @ Cal Middle
Who: All eligible 8th graders What: Special FREE dance just for
the 8th graders! AND it’s free!
Where: Cal Middle Cafeteria
What to Wear: Students are asked to dress up in semi-formal,
school-appropriate attire. They should not bring anything besides
a phone/small purse. No bags or outside food/drink allowed.
Behavior: No phones will be allowed in the dance. We will offer a
bag check for students to leave bags or phones stored under
teacher supervision. Any inappropriate behavior will result in
expulsion from the event and possible removal from remaining 8th
grade events including Promotion. If you do not feel your child
is able to handle this responsibility, please make sure they
leave phones at home. If you need to reach your child, please
call the Front Office at (916) 395-5302.
Wednesday, June 11th – 8th Grade BBQ Shortened Day Schedule (out at Noon)
8th Graders will receive a meal ticket and will be released for the BBQ during 5th period. BBQ will last until 12:00pm. This will be the last day for 8th grade students to see all of their teachers and collect or turn in any materials.
Thursday, June 12th 8th Grade Promotion (Last Day of School) Student Drop-off: 8:15am Ceremony: 9:00-10:30am
Who: All eligible 8th graders What: Students will walk across the
stage and be acknowledged for their hard work!
Where: Land Park Amphitheater
What to Wear: Students are encouraged to wear semi formal attire.
Keep in mind this is a school event. Students will be walking on
uneven grass and stone steps, so consider appropriate shoes for
this terrain.
GUIDELINES:
● Students should be dropped off directly at the park no later
than 8:15am and go directly to the staging area to line up with
their 4th period classes.
● Seating is limited!! Family seating on the amphitheater benches
is first come, first served. We encourage families to pack lawn
chairs for those who are willing to sit on the sides of the
amphitheater behind the rope lines. Because we are unable to
limit the number of attendees, please be prepared to stand if a
seat is unavailable. *8 seats will be reserved for “Soiree In The
City” auction winners along the rope line! We encourage everyone
to bid on this auction item!!!
● Air horns/Noisemakers are NOT permitted. The ceremony should
conclude by 10:30am, at which time students will be dismissed for
the day and should NOT return to campus.
● If you did not purchase a Spirit Pack at the beginning of the
school year, you may purchase a Promotion lei for $15 at the
Front Office (while supplies last). Leis may be available for
cash purchase on promotion day.
